Near Nemuro City Hall is a bar that also serves fresh seafood sourced from the surrounding waters. Its owner, Shinichiro Abe, is a Nemuro local. Raised by sushi restaurant owners, he further honed his craft in Sapporo, opening Nemuro-base in 2020. “I want this place to be a base where locals can always find something delicious,” says Mr. Abe. True to those words, many of his guests are from Nemuro itself. He focuses on using local ingredients, while also sourcing seasonal produce from trusted producers across Japan. Every dish, prepared with skill and care, is outstanding, and each one reflects a deep commitment to quality. As the menu changes daily depending on what ingredients are available, each day promises unique culinary encounters.
