[Kushiro City] Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO
A sweet Kushiro souvenir—desserts made with local sake, Fukutsukasa

Located along the banks of Kushiro River, Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO is a multi-purpose complex where you can enjoy shopping and dining. With the Nusamai Bridge nearby, it is a must-visit stop for sightseeing in Kushiro. Many tourists drop in to buy souvenirs, with sweets made with Kushiro’s local sake, Fukutsukasa, becoming a favorite. Fukutsukasa Cake is a long-time best-seller from the confectionary shop, Kashidokoro Nakazima. According to the owner, Norimasa Nakajima, sake is mixed into the sponge cake batter and, once baked, is sprayed onto and injected into the cake, resulting in a moist texture and rich, fragrant aroma. Horoyoi Pudding is an original creation by Kazuma Funasaki, a master of French cuisine in Kushiro who runs Restaurant & Community Iomante. Made with generous amounts of fresh milk and eggs, the pudding releases an unmistakable aroma of sake, creating a delightfully intoxicating experience.
