In 2025, Akkeshi Town welcomed its first craft beer brand, Huîtrière. At the restaurant connected to the brewery, you can enjoy their meticulously brewed craft beers and cuisine made with local ingredients. Their flagship beer, AKKESHI OYSTER LAGER, is brewed using smoked malt and Akkeshi oyster shells. It is truly a beer made for oysters with its rich smokiness perfectly complementing their sweet–salty taste. Seasonal beers are also available alongside the regular line up, including the vividly colored AKKESHI ROUGE, brewed by adding beets from eastern Hokkaido and the richly flavored AKKESHI SUNSET, inspired by Akkeshi’s beautiful sunsets. All beers offer a taste journey you can only experience here, inviting you to take your time and savor each sip. 

Huîtrière also offer an array of not-to-be-missed dishes designed to pair perfectly with beer. Enjoy Akkeshi oysters raw or sautéed, Akkeshi clams steamed in AKKESHI OYSTER LAGER, and many beer-friendly selections including oyster salt fries. “Each style of craft beer reveals a distinct character in both aroma and flavor,” shares the owner, Ms. Takami Shibata. “I hope that pairing the beer with food helps people discover and appreciate its appeal on a deeper level.” Take your time to explore the flavors as you enjoy trying various beers.
