[Nemuro City] Michi-no-Eki Swan 44 Nemuro
Enjoy a feast for the eyes and taste buds surrounded by magnificent nature

Located along National Route 44, this roadside rest area occupies a truly rare setting, with the Ramsar Convention-registered wetlands of Lake Furen and Shunkunitai stretching out before it. As soon as you step inside, vast, panoramic views greet you. You will find a well-stocked shop selling seafood and Nemuro souvenirs like Olanda Senbei (Dutch crackers) and you can visit the information desk for advice on choosing the ideal purchase out of a range of seasonal products. The restaurant offers various dishes made with seafood sourced from the waters off Nemuro. Hanasaki Crab Kamameshi is a dish that lets you fully savor Nemuro’s local pride—Hanasaki crab. It features a Hokkaido-style dashi (fish broth), characterized by a gentle sweetness, which is enriched with a touch of chicken oil as a hidden accent to add depth. The dish enhances the crab’s natural flavor and umami. All set meals, including rice bowls, come with miso soup with Hanasaki crab. You can also enjoy the local dish, esukaroppu, and lesser-known specialties, such as Nemuro oysters.
